Back to main | Bibliography Zwicky deviendra-t-il un jour un nom commun, un qualificatif s’appliquant aux citoyens suisses imbus d’eux-mêmes, incapables d’assumer leur médiocrité, persuadés qu’ils sont les meilleurs du monde et que tous les problèmes proviennent de l’étranger ? Ce qui est sûr en tout cas, c’est qu’il n’est pas difficile d’en trouver, des gaillards comme cela, entre Genève et St-Gall. Et sa femme, ses deux fils et sa fille ne sont pas une énième imitation de ce que l’on peut voir dans les BD et les films allemands ou français. A dire vrai, tout Suisse cache en lui un peu de Zwicky, tant le personnage est bien caricaturé par Jaermann et Schaad dans sa manière d’être et dans sa façon de réagir face aux situations difficiles de cette société postindustrielle.       Is Zwicky destined to become a common noun referring to Swiss citizens imbued with a sense of their own importance, who are incapable of accepting their own mediocrity, and who're convinced that they are the best in the world and that all problems come from abroad? One thing is for certain: fellows like Zwicky are hard to find between Geneva and Sankt Gallen. Nor are his wife, two sons and one daughter an umpteenth imitation of characters in German or French comic strips or films. To tell the truth, every Swiss person has a little of Zwicky within him or herself--such is the skill with which Jaermann and Schaad have caricatured their hero in his ability to respond to difficult situations in this post-industrial society.       Wird Zwicky eines Tages ein Gattungsname sein, eine Bezeichnung für die Schweizer Bürger, die - von sich selbst eingenommen - nicht in der Lage sind, ihre Mittelmässigkeit hinzunehmen, die sich für die Besten der Welt halten und glauben, dass alle Probleme aus dem Ausland kommen? Sicher ist in jedem Fall, dass es nicht schwierig ist, Burschen dieser Art zwischen Genf und Sankt Gallen zu finden. Und seine Frau, seine beiden Söhne und seine Tochter sind nicht eine von den zahllosen Imitationen, von dem, was man in deutschen oder französischen Filmen oder Comics zu sehen bekommt. Um es ganz offen zu sagen, in jedem Schweizer schlummert ein wenig von Zwicky, so hervorragend ist es Jaermann und Schaad gelungen, diese Person zu karikieren, in seiner ganzen Art, in der Weise, wie er auf schwierige Situationen dieser postindustriellen Gesellschaft reagiert.
