Yakari

By Derib

While some right-thinking comic strips are something of an affront to creative genius, others are capable of reconciling good intentions and artistic success. Yakari belongs to the second category. The dreamlike and poetic scenario of Job blends together marvellously with Derib's graphic style and cutting. The result is the unforgettable character of a little Sioux who can talk with his pony and all the animals of the American hunting grounds. Yakari is a celebration of the pure and noble side of childhood, a side of the medal that does have a reverse, but one that we forget all too willingly while dreaming or reading a comic book.
