By Derib

Buddy Longway lives in the Wild West, but he is neither an outcast, nor an outlaw, nor a gunman. This pure-hearted hero strives to live justly. The successive albums of the series cover the usual Western themes, but what makes them special is that the hero succeeds in leading his life as a hunter and trapper, escaping all manner of traps and dangers thanks to his courage, endurance, skilland honesty. His marriage with Chinook, a Sioux woman, allows him to start a family, have children, and see them grow up--together with the reader.

In the Buddy Longway series, created by Derib for Tintin magazine in 1972, the author depicts the realist side of the American West in the 19th century. He describes other aspects of the West in Go West, in Celui qui est né deux fois (The man who was born twice) or in the Yakari series.
